Car rental in Cheras

We deliver anywhere along the Cheras spine for RM 50 — Taman Connaught, Taman Midah, Bandar Tun Razak, Taman Segar and out to Cheras South and Balakong. It is about 40 minutes from our Subang Jaya base on a clear run right across the city, so we quote 55 to 75 minutes from confirmation. Cheras is long, so tell us the taman or the nearest MRT station and we will pin the meeting point precisely. Handover takes ten minutes at your house, condominium lobby or a mall car park, whichever is easiest for you.

Local notes

Cheras, and why renting here works the way it does

Cheras is not a neighbourhood so much as a long corridor running south-east out of Kuala Lumpur along Jalan Cheras, crossing from the city into Selangor around Balakong. It is dense, largely residential, and strongly Chinese-Malaysian in character at the KL end. Cheras Leisure Mall and Sunway Velocity anchor the retail; Taman Connaught is best known for its Wednesday night market, one of the longest in the country, stretching well over a kilometre. Taman Segar, Taman Midah and Taman Bukit Cheras hold rows of long-established coffee shops. The MRT Kajang line runs the length of the corridor with stations at Taman Pertama, Taman Midah, Taman Mutiara, Taman Connaught and beyond, which has reshaped how people move here.

Residents, overwhelmingly — households between cars, families needing a second vehicle, and people hiring for balik kampung trips to Kuantan, Johor or Kelantan, for which Cheras is well placed via the Karak and the East Coast Expressway. Day to day the picks are a Civic RS or a Lexus IS300 F Sport — quick enough for the Karak, small enough for the old taman bays. For the long-distance runs, renters upsize to an Alphard or a Mercedes saloon for the highway comfort on a four-hour drive. Businesses towards Balakong and Cheras South hire an executive saloon or a Range Rover for client work. Younger renters along the MRT corridor tend towards the Golf GTI.

Getting there from SS15

The corridor is defined by Jalan Cheras itself, with the MRR2 crossing it, the Cheras–Kajang Highway running parallel, the SILK to the south and the Besraya heading into the city. From SS15 we come across on the Kesas or through the SMART Tunnel and MEX depending on the hour — around 40 minutes clear, noticeably more at peak. Jalan Cheras inbound is heavily congested from 7am and outbound from 5pm, and the MRR2 junctions at Taman Connaught and Batu 9 are the usual pinch points. Tolls on the Besraya and SILK are a few ringgit. For east coast trips, the Karak is reached via the MRR2 north in about 20 minutes.

Parking in Cheras

Cheras parking splits by era. The older taman shoplots — Taman Segar, Taman Midah, Taman Connaught — have free or cheap kerbside bays that are completely full at meal times, with double parking the norm and cars often boxed in. On Wednesday nights the streets around the Taman Connaught market are effectively closed to parking and worth avoiding altogether. Cheras Leisure Mall and Sunway Velocity have proper multi-storey car parks at modest hourly rates. Newer condominiums along the MRT line require visitor registration at the guardhouse, so send us the block and unit before delivery.

Queries

Questions about renting in Cheras

Cheras is huge — where exactly do you deliver?

Anywhere along the corridor, from Taman Pertama and Taman Midah at the KL end through Taman Connaught and Bandar Tun Razak, out to Cheras South, Balakong and the Selangor boundary. Because it stretches so far, give us your taman or nearest MRT station when you book so the driver goes to the right stretch of Jalan Cheras.

Is Cheras a good base for a trip to the east coast?

Yes, one of the better ones. The MRR2 north gets you onto the Karak Highway in about 20 minutes, and from there it is a straight run to Kuantan on the East Coast Expressway, roughly three and a half hours. For that trip we would suggest an executive saloon or an Alphard over one of the sports cars, purely for highway comfort and boot space.

What should I know about the Taman Connaught night market?

It runs on Wednesday evenings and it is enormous — well over a kilometre of stalls. The surrounding streets fill with parked cars from late afternoon and getting out afterwards is slow. If your delivery falls on a Wednesday and you live nearby, we will usually suggest meeting at Cheras Leisure Mall or the MRT car park instead.
