Nissan Rental in Kuala Lumpur

One Nissan, and it is the GT-R R35 at RM1,999 a day. A twin-turbo V6 with 565 bhp and all-wheel drive that reaches 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds — the same figure as an Aventador, for under a third of the daily rate.

That comparison is the whole reason people book it. The R35 is the cheapest genuinely fast car we rent. It will keep up with anything in the fleet in a straight line, and the all-wheel-drive traction means it does so without drama in the wet, which in Kuala Lumpur between October and December is not a minor consideration.

It is a four-seater on paper. Treat the rear seats as luggage space; adults will not thank you. The boot is small but usable for two soft bags. Ground clearance is low and the front splitter is vulnerable, so steep car park ramps need an angled approach and the unmarked humps in older Puchong and Kepong housing areas are a real hazard. We point out the worst offenders at handover.

The gearbox is a dual-clutch and it clunks at low speed. This is normal for an R35 and not a fault — we mention it because first-time drivers occasionally ring us from a car park convinced something is broken. Above walking pace it disappears.

Who books it: enthusiasts on a Sepang track day weekend, JDM fans who grew up with the badge, and content creators who want a recognisable hero car without supercar money. It also gets booked by people who tried to hire a Lamborghini, saw the deposit, and came back to this instead.

Fuel is heavy: 15 to 18 litres per 100 km in real use, RON 97, and the tank does not last long if you are enjoying yourself. Budget RM200 or more per day of active driving. Insurance excess on the GT-R is higher than the ordinary fleet cars and we will state the figure clearly before you commit.

Delivery is free across the Klang Valley as with everything else on the fleet. For a Sepang weekend we will usually drop the car at your hotel in Nilai or Sepang, not in the city, which saves you an hour of expressway driving at each end of the booking.

Nissan rental questions

How fast is the Nissan GT-R you rent?

The R35 makes 565 bhp from a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 and reaches 100 km/h in about 2.9 seconds — identical on paper to the Lamborghini Aventador S we rent at RM6,800 a day. All-wheel drive means it puts that power down cleanly, including in wet weather, which matters during the monsoon months.

Is the GT-R practical for more than a day?

Only just. It is a two-plus-two with token rear seats and a boot for two soft bags, and it drinks 15 to 18 litres per 100 km. Fine for a weekend of driving; frustrating as a week-long everyday car. If you want speed you can live with, the BMW M4 Competition at RM2,300 is the more usable choice.

Why does the GT-R gearbox make a noise at low speed?

That is the dual-clutch transmission and it is entirely normal for an R35 — a mechanical clunk when creeping in a car park or pulling away. It is not a fault and it disappears above walking pace. We mention it at handover because first-time GT-R drivers reasonably assume something has gone wrong.
