The 2.3 EcoBoost is the four-cylinder turbo Mustang — 314 bhp, ten-speed automatic, 0 to 100 in about 5.5 seconds. It is not the V8, and we will say so before you book, not after. What you get is the shape, the presence and the noise of a decent aftermarket-sounding exhaust, at roughly a quarter of what a Lamborghini costs for the day.

That trade-off suits the people who actually book it. Birthdays, anniversaries, proposal drives, graduation photos, and a steady stream of content shoots along the Putrajaya bridges and the Jalan Tun Razak underpass at night. Nobody books a Mustang for a board meeting, and that is fine.

Practically, it is a four-seat coupe with a genuinely usable boot — better than the Audi A5 or the Porsche coupes for luggage. The rear seats are for short journeys only. It is a wide car with poor rear visibility, so tight older car parks in Chinatown or around Jalan Alor need patience. Newer mall parking is straightforward.

Fuel is more reasonable than people expect from the badge. The EcoBoost will do around 10 to 12 litres per 100 km if you drive it normally, more if you use the throttle. It takes RON 97. Ground clearance is low at the front lip — we point out the specific speed humps to avoid at handover if you tell us where you are staying.

One note on the exhaust. It is loud, and residential enclosures with security guards will notice you at 1am. If you are delivering to a condominium in Mont Kiara or KLCC, expect to be asked to keep it civil on the way out. Flagged here so the management office does not have to flag it for you.
