Car rental in Sri Hartamas

We deliver free anywhere in Sri Hartamas — Plaza Damas, the Hartamas Shopping Centre area, the condominiums off Jalan Sri Hartamas 1 and the landed roads towards Bukit Kiara. It is around 30 minutes from our Subang Jaya base via the Sprint or Penchala Link, so we quote 45 to 60 minutes from confirmation. Because the streets here are narrow and the parking is tight, we normally hand over in your building's drop-off porch or the Plaza Damas car park, not on the kerb. Handover takes about ten minutes.

Local notes

Sri Hartamas, and why renting here works the way it does

Sri Hartamas is a compact, dense pocket wedged between Mont Kiara, Bukit Kiara and Jalan Duta, and its identity is basically its dining strip. The rows of shophouses along Jalan Sri Hartamas 8 and the surrounding streets hold one of the more concentrated runs of restaurants, cafes and bars in Kuala Lumpur, busy every night of the week. Plaza Damas is the mixed-use complex at the centre, with offices, serviced residences and more food; Hartamas Shopping Centre sits opposite with a supermarket and a cluster of Japanese restaurants. Behind the commercial strip, the area is largely condominiums and older link houses, with a substantial expatriate and young professional population overlapping with neighbouring Mont Kiara.

Expatriate and young professional residents, in the main — people who live here but do not own a car, hiring for a weekend away or while their own vehicle is off the road. Visitors staying in the serviced residences at Plaza Damas. Small cars dominate for a very practical reason: bays here are tight and the basement ramps in the older blocks are narrow, so a Golf GTI or a Civic RS is genuinely easier to live with than anything larger. Families in the link houses take a Range Rover or a Vellfire. The dining strip also generates its own kind of booking — a 911 GT3 or a Mustang taken out for an evening. We also see a steady run of monthly hires from people newly arrived and deciding whether to buy.

Getting there from SS15

Sri Hartamas connects to the Sprint Highway, Jalan Duta and the Penchala Link, which puts Mont Kiara next door, Damansara Heights five minutes away and the city about fifteen minutes off-peak. From SS15 we take the LDP to the Sprint or run through Penchala Link, about 30 minutes clear. The internal road layout is the awkward part: a small number of narrow feeder roads serve a lot of buildings, and Jalan Sri Hartamas 1 backs up in the evening when the restaurants fill. The Jalan Duta junction is slow in the morning peak. Sprint and Penchala tolls together come to a few ringgit.

Parking in Sri Hartamas

Parking is the standing complaint here. The dining strip has limited kerbside bays that are full from about 7pm every night, and enforcement is active — cars on the yellow lines do get ticketed and occasionally clamped. Plaza Damas and Hartamas Shopping Centre both have paid car parks, which are the sensible option in the evening at a few ringgit an hour, though Plaza Damas fills at dinner too. Residential condominiums require visitor registration at the guardhouse. Some restaurants offer valet on the busiest nights, which is often the least painful route in.

Queries

Questions about renting in Sri Hartamas

Where will you meet me in Sri Hartamas?

Normally at your condominium drop-off porch or in the Plaza Damas car park. Kerbside bays along the dining strip are few and heavily enforced, so a ten-minute handover there is not something we will attempt. Give us your block and unit when booking, and register the plate with your guardhouse so the driver is not held at the boom gate.

Should I take a small car in Sri Hartamas?

If you are parking here daily, yes. The older condominium car parks have narrow bays and tight ramps, and street bays are short. A Golf GTI or a Civic RS removes most of the aggravation, and neither will scrape on the ramps the way the low-slung sports cars do. If you have a landed house with a driveway, or you are mainly driving out of the area, size matters much less and you can pick for the journey instead.

How close is Sri Hartamas to Mont Kiara and the city?

Mont Kiara is a few minutes away — they effectively share the Solaris and Publika area between them. Damansara Heights is about five minutes via the Sprint, and KLCC is roughly fifteen to twenty minutes off-peak through Jalan Duta, considerably more in the morning rush. Delivery to all of these areas is free from us.
